I’m responsible for sales, project management, development and implementing growth strategies.
Education 
AB in psychology, Stanford University.
Career progression 
I founded the public relations firm in 1989 with a partner. I bought him out in 1995 and renamed the firm The Miles Agency.
Proudest business achievement 
Staying profitable and winning new business in these hard economic times.
I also mentor the next generation of marketers. I have an internship program in my agency and have worked with students from major colleges and universities in Virginia, North Carolina and Washington, D.C.
Biggest factor in your success 
Faith in God and support of my family.
Professional, business activities 
Appointed by City Council to the Virginia Beach Minority Business Council; founding
Hampton Roads Chapter president of  the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce; past chair and current board member (regional and Virginia Beach), National Association of Women Business Owners.
Volunteer and community activities 
I serve on several community boards including Red Cross, Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, Contemporary Art Center, Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center, NCP Federal Credit Union. I serve in the outreach ministry of Calvary Revival Church.
How do you balance your time? 
Saying no to something and planning ahead. Setting priorities and sticking to them.
Biggest obstacles and challenges you face or have faced 
Lack of capital to fund my business.
How have you overcome some of your challenges? 
Prayer, planning and persistence.
Professional goal in the next five years 
I’m interested in growing the other business that my husband and I started.
Advice for women in the workforce 
Surround yourself with positive, competent people you can trust. You don’t need to be or act like a man to win like one. Being a woman is a wonderful thing so leverage it.
What you do in your downtime 
Relax with family.
