At work Two of my biggest passions are teaching and business. As a professor of business administration at TCC I am able to marry the two and provide students with not only textbook information but real-life applications that will help them determine the education and career path that they would enjoy waking up for every morning.

Home and family Virginia Beach; parents, Robert and Lita V. Staskey; and a puppy, Preston.

Volunteer activities Court Appointed Special Advocates Inc., Susan G. Komen and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Balancing time I am able to balance my time by being present and focused. I also think it's extremely important to continually reflect on my goals and objectives.

Choosing organizations Volunteering with the organizations I have chosen is always based on the mission of each of them; however, with both Susan G. Komen and the National MS Society, I wanted to do my part for loved ones that were diagnosed with a disease that would forever impact their lives.

Advice for young people First, reach for the stars, because anything's possible with a dream, but do your absolute best work to make sure that you get there.

Proudest accomplishment The proudest moment of my life was giving my mother a car. I would say it is my proudest moment because it was something I promised but never knew would be possible.

Professional goal in five years I want to own and operate a nonprofit that helps at-risk youth and have my book "The Two Faces of Success" published.

The one thing I'd change about Hampton Roads I would enhance our school system.

Dream dinner party Oprah Winfrey.

Downtime Paint and write.

What really gets under my skin? People who consistently complain but are not willing to do anything to change their circumstances.
