Emily Thomson DO joined Hampton Roads OB/GYN Center, a Bon Secours Virginia Medical Group practice.

Thomson earned a bachelor's degree at the University of California in Los Angeles and her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, Calif. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Summa Akron City Hospital in Ohio. Her prior professional experience includes private group practice at a Canton, Ohio, women's clinic.

Hudnall R. Croasdale has been hired as CEO of the Norfolk State University Research and Innovation Foundation. Croasdale, the vice chair of the foundation, has private- and public-sector management experience in the information technology and education sectors.

Robert R. Sandwich Jr. has been appointed judge of the 5th Judicial Circuit. Sandwich is an assistant commonwealth's attorney for the city of Suffolk and has served in a similar role for Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and also in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit in Columbus, Ga. He has worked in private practice in the Hampton Roads and Richmond areas, handling a wide array of criminal and civil matters.

Michael McNabb has been named vice president of consumer lending. He'll direct the entire consumer lending area, and provide leadership in core product development, which is intended to expand LFCU's loan portfolio. Previously, he was assistant vice president of the indirect lending department.

James M. "Jim" Bourey has been named Newport News city manager.

He previously worked as the director of corporate development with Elliot Davis, an accounting/financial services firm in Greenville, S.C. Prior to that, he served in a variety of local government management positions, most recently as city manager of Greenville (2004-2010). He's also held senior management positions in El Dorado County, Calif., Hennepin County, Minn., and Hillsborough County, Fla.
