Timmons Group made four new hires in its Hampton Roads office:

Robert Erwin joined the survey group. He has more than 17 years of experience in surveying services - including boundary surveys, topographic and ALTA surveys - and construction stakeout. Erwin is a licensed land surveyor and a graduate of SUNY College at Purchase.

Frank Walton of Tidewater Community College has joined the administration of Gov. Terry McAuliffe as an appointee to the state's Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers. Walton has been head of TCC's Funeral Services Program since 2007. He also owns and manages Walton Funeral Home in Virginia Beach. Walton earned his bachelor's in economics from Hampton University and holds a master's in counseling from Norfolk State University. He received his mortuary science training at Gupton-Jones College in Atlanta.

Brian Deibler, a senior tax and accounting manager at Malvin, Riggins & Co. in Newport News, received the Virginia Society of CPAs' Top 5 Under 35 leadership award. He serves on the VSCPA Educational Foundation Board of Directors and in a new position as president of the VSCPA's Tidewater Chapter. He earned his bachelor's degree from Radford University.

The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants recognized three members in Hampton Roads with its Life Member Award, honoring those who have been with the VSCPA for at least 40 consecutive years: Walter W. Berry, CPA of Chesapeake; John T. Hart, CPA of Newport News; and Clifton Ingram Jr., CPA of Norfolk.

Guernsey Tingle Architects, a Williamsburg-based architectural, interior design and planning firm, named Brad Sipes and Scott L. VanVoorhees as associates and stockholders.

Sipes is a graduate of Ball State University and joined Guernsey Tingle Architects in 2002. He leads the firm's religious and financial facility design studios.

Virginia Beach-based MSA PC welcomed five additions to its team.

Matthew W. Knightes joined MSA's engineering department as a project manager with 12 years of civil engineering experience. He is a longtime Virginia Beach resident, has a bachelor's in civil engineering technology from Old Dominion University and has an associate's in business administration from Hudson Valley Community College. In addition, he is a licensed professional engineer in Virginia and North Carolina.
