Huntington Ingalls Industries has announced that Ron Murray has been promoted to vice president of quality and process excellence for the company's Newport News Shipbuilding division.

Murray will oversee the planning, development and enforcement of quality and continuous improvement programs across the shipyard.

Tidewater Community College President Deborah M. DiCroce has announced new provosts to head the college's Portsmouth and Norfolk campuses.

Marvin L. Bright assumes leadership Feb. 1 for the Norfolk campus, which enrolls more than 14,500 students each year. His installation ceremony will take place in the spring.

Michelle W. Woodhouse recently took the reins at the Fred W. Beazley Portsmouth campus, which enrolls more than 12,000 students annually. She will be officially installed at a ceremony on Feb. 3.

Tidewater Community College made the following announcements:

James P. Toscano has been appointed vice president for institutional advancement.

With more than nine years of experience in community and government relations, communications and marketing, Toscano was most recently vice president for public affairs and communications and chief communications officer for Hampton Roads Transit. He also was legislative director for Bob McDonnell when he was the delegate for the 84th District of Virginia.

Jeffrey S. Creekmore has joined Heritage Bank as a senior vice president and commercial loan officer on the commercial lending team. Creekmore worked 17 years with the Bank of Hampton Roads, most recently as the bank's Chesapeake city executive, and prior to that as Norfolk city executive. Creekmore is a graduate of Norfolk Collegiate School, James Madison University and the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management. He served on the Norfolk Collegiate School alumni board from 2004 to 2010 and as president from 2008 to 2010.

Robert M. Palmer MD has joined Eastern Virginia Medical School as professor of internal medicine and director of the EVMS Glennan Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology.

Palmer, a former head of geriatrics at the Cleveland Clinic, comes to the school from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was the clinical director of geriatric medicine and gerontology and vice chair of quality improvement and patient safety in the department of Medicine.
