LawTasos A. Galiotos has joined Willcox & Savage as a partner. Galiotos' practice will focus on commercial real estate with an emphasis on senior housing facilities including nursing homes and assisted living facilities. He holds bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Virginia. Real estateKaren Farris has been named managing broker at the Independence office of William E. Wood and Associates in Virginia Beach. Farris previously worked as an assistant managing broker at the Great Neck office. Summers of Virginia, a Williamsburg-area home-builder, as a business development manager. Cairns most recently owned and operated a custom-home-building business in Williamsburg since 1992. He has more than 27 years of homebuilding and management experience. He was a founding member of the Williamsburg Community Builders Association in 1999 and is a past president of the Peninsula Housing and Building Association. Edward Ore has joined Advantage Mortgage Co., an affiliated company with Rose & Womble, as a home mortgage consultant. Ore has six years of lending experience. He is based at the Town Center office in Virginia Beach. Hugh Cohen, vice president of the commercial division of Harbor Group International LLC, has attained SIOR designation. Cohen has been with the firm for more than five years, leasing many of its Hampton Roads commercial properties, including Dominion Tower and 555 E. Main St. in Downtown Norfolk. Banking & financeThe following individuals have been promoted at Bank of America: Alice M. Titsis has been promoted to vice president, banking center manager at the First Colonial Road Banking Center. She has been with the company since 1998 and will manage all banking center personnel and operations. Lisa Rivera has been promoted to officer, assistant banking center management at the Bayside Banking Center in Virginia Beach. Rivera has been with the bank since 1985 and will oversee the banking center operations, sales and service. Sonya G. Grant has been promoted to vice president, banking center manager at the Churchland Banking Center. Grant has been with the bank since 1992 and will oversee all banking center personnel and operations. Vernon Page has been promoted to Peninsula regional president for Resource Bank. Page joined the bank in 1999 as a senior vice president, city executive for the Peninsula commercial division. He has more than 35 years of lending and banking experience. Health careMarlene Howlett RN has been named vice president of patient care services and chief nurse executive at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News. Howlett joined the hospital in June 2006 as a consultant and interim director of the emergency department and in September, became the administrative director for women's services, emergency department and inpatient surgical services. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from the Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia. DistributionScott Russell has been promoted to director of sourcing at Ferguson in Newport News. Russell joined the company in 1985 as a management trainee and then joined outside sales in 1986. He was promoted to branch manager of the Frederick, Md., office in 1989 and to general manager of the Augusta, Ga., office in 1992. Russell transferred to Winston-Salem in 1995 as a general manager and was promoted to manager of sourcing-HVAC in 2004. MarketingScott Sanders has joined Meridian Group in Virginia Beach as team leader. He was hired primarily to lead the new Hall Automotive account, which Meridian took over in January. Sanders previously worked as the general manager for WTVZ-TV in Norfolk for more than 10 years. He will be responsible for leading a brand rebuilding effort, including advertising, Internet and direct marketing, and consultation on all aspects of the company's business. The following individuals were named to the Virginia Realtor Hall of Fame at the annual Virginia Realtor Legislative and Education Conference in Richmond: Ralph Anderson of Virginia Beach was executive vice president of the Virginia Association of Realtors from 1979 to 1993. Dorcas Helfant-Browning of Coldwell Banker Professional was the first woman president of the National Association of Realtors in 1990 and was VAR president in 1984. Helfant-Browning received the Virginia's Realtor of the Year Award in 1987. Sandee Ferebee of Virginia Beach is president of GSH Real Estate and was VAR president in 1990. Ferebee received the Virginia Realtor of the Year Award in 1994. Michael Sears was ranked third nationally among all U.S. Allianz Securities (now Questar Capital Corp.) representatives in gross dealer concessions.
