In an opinion, written by Justice Clarence Thomas, the Supreme Court ruled that the firm is entitled to attorney fees for a disability benefits case.

David Zobel, an attorney of 22 years with Huff, Poole and Mahoney PC, has taken a one-year leave of absence from the Virginia Beach firm to serve as the executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia in Norfolk.
After receiving the OK from his firm, Zobel stepped into his new role June 21.

Fresh-faced attorneys who graduated from law school in 2009 found their starting salaries about the same as those for graduates in the previous year, according to an annual report by the National Association for Law Placement.
The national median salary for the Class of 2009, based on those working full-time and reporting a salary, was $72,000, unchanged from that for the Class of 2008, according to the report published July 22.
The average or mean was $93,454.

A civil suit has been filed in federal court against the Williams Mullen law firm alleging harassment and discrimination.
The nine-page complaint filed in early November in U.S. District Court Norfolk Division by former Williams Mullen employee Hanh Nguyen Allgood asserts claims of national origin discrimination, age discrimination, sexual harassment and unlawful retaliation seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.
