Welcome Inside Business presents the Health Care Hero Awards to honor those who epitomize the word "hero" in the delivery of health care to the community. Through these awards we seek to salute excellence, encourage innovation, offer examples of best practices for others to emulate, raise awareness in the community, enhance the quality of health care and, of course, recognize deserving individuals and organizations within the industry. A panel of judges reviewed nominations we received from the public. They brought to this program their knowledge of the local health care industry and objectively reviewed the submissions received. They realize, as do we, that there are many others in the community deserving of recognition and they wanted to pay a special tribute to the community's primary care physicians, who often perform heroic feats for their patients. We hope these honors raise awareness of the heroic work of the health care industry in Hampton Roads and make readers think of the health care hero they'd like to nominate next year.
